Another event I’m sponsoring is a local showing of David Attenborough’s film, OCEAN. Unfortunately, when it was released in May this year, there weren’t any local screenings and I wasn’t available to travel further on other days where it was on further afield. I approached The Regal Theatre Film Society asking if I could pay towards the cost of screening it which they were happy to do. Along with Peter Hoyland from Plastic Free Exmoor, we will give a short introduction to the evening and there will be a chance for patrons to join in with a Q & A session afterwards. Hopefully, it will be a ‘House Full’ on the evening.

After launching their product, they successfully started supplying homes, schools, swimming pools, along with hotels around the world. In 2024, they appeared on BBC Dragons’ Den and after their ‘pitch’ all five Dragons were competing for investment. After ‘talking to the wall’, Lisa and Antony decided to go with Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones who were really excited to be part of SNOAP.

A few days later, I contacted Lisa to discuss the product and, like many new sustainable products, wanted to know how I could help promote SNOAP. The conversation ended with an agreement that Our Precious Earth would be the first retail outlet of SNOAP which I couldn’t be more excited about!

Following a nationwide search, it has been chosen as part of this year’s SmallBiz100 line-up, which showcases 100 of the most inspiring independent businesses from across the nation.

Small Business Saturday takes place on 2nd December 2023, with a mission to support and celebrate the UK’s 5.5 million small businesses. With firms facing huge challenges due to the cost of living crisis, the campaign is more vital than ever as it moves into it’s second decade in the UK.

Our Precious Earth will be profiled by the campaign on 21st November 2023 as part of the 100-day countdown to Small Business Saturday.

Plastic Free Champions: leading the change in communities

Our Precious Earth owner, Keith Hunt joins a growing number of businesses across West Somerset and Exmoor who have become Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Business Champions by taking steps to reduce and remove single use plastics from their businesses.

With Our Precious Earth, Keith has gone even further removing all single use plastics from his business and providing people with a wonderful range of zero waste plastic free products from homeware and personal care items to plastic free gifts and products that have been created from plastics collected during beach cleans.

Keith, who is a Keep Britain Tidy ‘Litter Heroes Ambassador’ is a stalwart of beach cleans and litter picks organised by Plastic Free Communities in West Somerset but also regularly undertakes solo beach cleans and litter picks in the local countryside and along the West Somerset Coast.

Speaking about his award, Keith said, “I am very proud to receive this award knowing my shop makes it easier for people to changeover to eco-friendly alternatives whilst making a difference to our environment.”
